Shreveport Déjà News In-Person
LSUS NWLA Archives presents Shreveport Déjà News, Episode 2, “It’s Not About Sex; It’s About Power: the fight to end violence against women.” Headlines on multiple Shreveport news outlets on January 14, 2024, announced that the first three Shreveport homicide victims of 2024 were women.
Since Mary Wollstonecraft’s trailblazing work of feminism, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, was published in 1792, women have been fighting to assert their human right to safety from gender-based violence. The struggle is not new. It continues to this day worldwide and in our town, as documented in LSUS Northwest Louisiana Archives.
