Banned Books Open Mic - Common Hour In-Person
Celebrate your freedom to read with Noel Memorial Library! During Common Hour, copies of different banned books will be provided, or you can bring your own. We are partnering with LSUS Media & PR to record short, 1-minute-long clips of LSUS students, faculty, and staff reading passages from their favorite banned books. Come and read excerpts from your favorite banned book and be featured in the coming video which will be posted on YouTube and linked to the Library website. This could be your big break! Attendees are encouraged to register for planning purposes, but not required.
September 22-28, 2024, is Banned Books Week! The theme for Banned Books Week 2024 is "Freed Between the Lines." Come celebrate your right to read with our Banned Books Open Mic events! (see event details above)
For a list of reported banned and challenged books in public and school libraries, visit the American Library Association website.
