SUMMARY:The Afterlives of Myths and Monsters
DESCRIPTION:Many monsters have been raised from dead countless times\,
always a little different from the experience. The methods of these
 'afterlives' vary: one-to-one translations\, adaptation\, remix\,
combination\, and more. By revealing these cross-historical connections we
can see how the historical past influences contemporary popular culture.
How have we "defanged" monsters from the antiquity to the contemporary
moment through natural science? How have we crafted and remixed multiple
myths to create new horrors to suit emerging audiences? Why have some
references endured -with little alternation- for so long? How have actions
within society crafted and created monsters for others?
